About Blue Mule Winery

A Journey from Homemade Wine to Award-Winning Flavors At Blue Mule Winery, every bottle tells a story that begins with a simple passion for winemaking. Our adventure started like many, in the warmth of home, crafting homemade wine in five-gallon carboys. We still chuckle about the purple stains in our bathtub from those early grape crushes! The thrill of transforming locally grown grapes and fruits into delightful wines was a challenge we embraced wholeheartedly. There was a time when we had eighty gallons fermenting across sixteen carboys, and it became clear: it was time to take our passion to the next level. After three years of crafting wine for another local winery, the dream of Blue Mule Winery began to take shape. Ashley, my daughter, was my biggest cheerleader, convincing me it was time to strike out on our own. She promised, "If you make it, I’ll sell it!" And so here we are today, handcrafting each step of the winemaking process—from growing and picking to crushing, pressing, fermenting, aging, and bottling. Oh, and did I mention tasting?
