How to Find a Round Top Vendor Again (and Never Lose One)

If you've spent any time in the Round Top Facebook groups, you've seen these posts. One shopper trying to track down the dealer of a piece she bought at The Compound drew more than 460 comments. "Where is the vendor Dennis, white tent far back right?" got 66. Other shoppers ask where a group of dealers relocated to, or where a favorite seller can be found between show weeks.

Losing a vendor at Round Top is common. The Fall Show spreads more than 1,500 vendors across 47 venues on about 11 miles of Highway 237, and many tents look alike by the third afternoon. The fix is a small habit, plus a few places to look if it's already too late.

Why Round Top vendors are so easy to lose

  • There are a lot of them. Each of the 47 venues is independently run, with its own dates, layout and dealer list.
  • The tents look alike. The Arbors is known for its signature white tents across a 12-acre venue. "White tent, far back right" could describe a dozen spots.
  • Dealers move. Many vendors change venues from show to show, and the mix at a field like Excess changes every season.
  • Cell service is spotty, so looking things up in the moment can be hard.

The 30-second habit: do this before you walk away

1. Photograph the booth sign and grab a business card

Take one photo of the booth sign or banner and one of the piece with its price tag. Take a business card even if you're "just looking." It usually has the shop name, phone and Instagram handle.

2. Write down the venue and the row, tent or building

"Back right" isn't an address. Many venues have names or numbers you can use instead:

  • The Arbors lists its dealers by tent (Tent A, Tent B-1, Tent D and so on).
  • The Compound has named buildings: the Peck Barn, the Carriage House, the Stables, the Neal Barn and the Granary Barn.
  • Fields like Bar W Field are wide open, so note a landmark and the nearest row.

Jot it in your phone's notes: venue, date, tent or building, and what the dealer sells.

3. Tap "Save This Booth" on the Field Map

The free Field Map runs in your phone's browser, with no app to download and no account. Standing at the booth, tap Save This Booth. It saves that exact spot, and you can add the dealer's name, a note ("walnut dresser, $1,200") and a photo. Then choose:

  • Still deciding, which adds the booth to your list as a soft reminder, or
  • Already bought, save pickup spot, which stays until you remove it.

Later, open your saved booths and get directions straight back. Some dealers also post a "Save this booth" QR sign that does the same thing in one scan. The show-day features switch on when the first venues open on October 12. Before then you can search venues and plan. Our Field Map how-to walks through every button.

Already lost one? Where to look

Search the vendor directory. The Round Top vendor directory lets you browse dealers by category, style and venue. It doesn't include every vendor yet, but it's a good first stop. If you remember the item rather than the name, try Search and describe it, for example "French farm table" or "turquoise cuff."

Check the venue page. Many venue pages list their dealers, sometimes by tent or building. If you were in a D tent at The Arbors, scan the Tent D list.

Ask the group, but with details. If you post in a Facebook group, include the venue, the day, the tent or building, what the dealer sold and a photo of your piece. Specific posts get answers much faster than "white tent, far back right."

Where did they go? Following vendors between shows

Follow them on Instagram. Most Round Top dealers use Instagram to announce where they'll set up next and when they're open outside show weeks. Many vendor profiles on Round Top Finder show the dealer's Instagram handle, so follow from there and you'll see their next move.

Look for year-round shops. Some dealers keep a shop open between shows. On the vendor directory, use the Year-Round Only filter, or browse Round Top year-round for shops, dining and things to do between shows.

Check the show dates. If a dealer tells you "we'll be back in spring," the Round Top show dates page lists every upcoming show and each venue's opening dates.

The short version

Photo of the sign and the piece, a business card, the venue and tent in your notes, Save This Booth on the Field Map, and an Instagram follow that night. It takes less than a minute, and it beats a 460-comment thread.
