Style Guide

What to Wear to Round Top

The honest answer: comfortable shoes and layers. But since you're going to ask anyway, here's the full guide to looking great while walking 15,000 steps on gravel.

The Golden Rule

If you can't walk a mile in it on gravel, don't wear it to Round Top.

Shoes — The Most Important Decision

You will walk 10,000-15,000 steps per day on gravel, grass, dirt, and concrete. Your shoe choice will make or break your experience. This is not the time to break in new boots.

Wear

  • Broken-in sneakers
  • Comfortable cowboy boots (broken in!)
  • Supportive walking shoes
  • Platform sneakers (trendy + comfort)

Maybe

  • Supportive sandals (spring only)
  • Birkenstock-style (with socks for dust)
  • Rain boots (if forecast says rain)

Skip

  • Heels of any kind
  • New shoes (blisters by noon)
  • Flip-flops (gravel + dust)
  • Fancy flats with no support

What to Wear by Season

Spring Show (March/April)

Temps range from 50°F mornings to 85°F afternoons. Layers are essential — mornings can be cool, afternoons hot.

  • Light jacket or denim layer for morning
  • T-shirt or blouse underneath
  • Jeans or comfortable pants
  • Hat (straw or wide-brim — sun gets strong)
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen

Fall Show (September/October)

Usually the best weather — 60-80°F with lower humidity. Still warm enough for short sleeves midday.

  • Light sweater or flannel for mornings
  • Tank or tee for midday
  • Jeans or linen pants
  • Felt hat (if you're feeling western)
  • Light scarf (doubles as sun protection)

What the Locals Actually Wear

After watching thousands of women shop Round Top, here's the real dress code: elevated casual. Think good jeans, a great hat, one statement piece (jewelry, jacket, or bag), and shoes you can walk in for 8 hours. Nobody is in cocktail attire. Nobody is in pajamas. The sweet spot is “I look put-together but I could also climb into a truck.”

A Great Hat

Sun protection + instant style. Straw in spring, felt in fall. Buy one at the show if you don't have one — there are incredible hat vendors.

Crossbody Bag

Hands-free is essential. You'll be picking things up, taking photos, and carrying purchases. Backpacks work too but feel less polished.

Layers You Can Tie

A denim jacket, light flannel, or cardigan you can tie around your waist when it warms up. Mornings are 20°F cooler than afternoons.

One Statement Piece

A chunky necklace, bold earrings, or a great belt. It ties a simple outfit together and you might find something even better at the show.
