First Time at Round Top? A Simple Game Plan
"Where do I even start?" and "Is everything in the same area?" are two of the most common questions first-timers ask in the Round Top Facebook groups. They're good questions, because Round Top isn't one show in one place. It's 47 independently run venues, each with its own dates, hours and admission, spread along about 11 miles of Texas Highway 237.
Here's a simple plan for your first trip to the Fall 2026 show.
How Round Top is laid out
Think of Highway 237 as one long shopping street with three clusters.
- Carmine and the north end. Near US 290, home to Blue Hills, The Hive and Big Red Barn. It's a quieter stretch with some of the show's larger properties.
- Round Top (the middle). The town itself, plus the busiest run of venues: The Arbors, Market Hill and Henkel Square, and further south Marburger Farm, The Horseshoe and The Compound.
- Warrenton (south end). About 3.5 miles south of Round Top. Open-air fields like Bar W Field, Zapp Hall and the Excess fields, with more treasure-hunt energy.
Is it all in one area? Not really. You'll drive between most venues and park at each one. Warrenton is the exception: you can park once and walk to several venues that sit close together.
What about trams? The Round Top Rides tram runs a route with 21 stops along the corridor. The Field Map shows the stops and, while the tram is running, where it is. Check Round Top Rides directly for fares and hours.
When to go: Fall 2026 dates
The core Fall Show runs October 17–31, 2026, and venues as a whole are open October 12–November 1. A few dates worth knowing:
- Oct 12: Market Hill and The Hive open first.
- Oct 15–16: Bar W Field, Henkel Square and Round Top Vintage Market open Oct 15. The Arbors, Zapp Hall and Bader Ranch open Oct 16.
- Oct 17: Most venues open, including Blue Hills and The Compound.
- Oct 20: Excess I and Excess 2 open (through Nov 1).
- Oct 25–26: Big Red Barn holds its ticketed Designer Day on Oct 25 and opens to the public Oct 26.
- Oct 27: Marburger Farm opens (through Oct 31).
- Oct 31: Many venues close, some early (Blue Hills and Big Red Barn at 4 PM).
Hours vary, so check the Round Top show dates page before you go. It has every venue's opening and closing dates.
Crowds: Opening weekends are the busiest. Tuesday through Thursday is calmer, with easier parking. The final days can bring good deals, though there's less to choose from.
Where to start: a two-day plan
Day 1, north and middle. Get to The Arbors early. It's free, open for the whole show, and gives you a broad first look. Then head north to Blue Hills, and back south to The Compound in the afternoon. If you're there Oct 27–31, put Marburger Farm first. It's ticketed ($15 plus tax and fees).
Day 2, Warrenton. Park once at Bar W or Zapp Hall and walk the fields. Prices tend to be lower and the mix more eclectic. In the afternoon, circle back to anything you saved.
One day only? Pick one cluster and enjoy it instead of racing the whole corridor.
What to bring
- Comfortable walking shoes. You'll be on gravel, grass and dirt.
- Hat, sunscreen and a refillable water bottle.
- Layers. Fall mornings can be cool.
- Some cash. Most vendors take cards, but not all.
- A tape measure and photos (with measurements) of the rooms you're shopping for.
- A tote, or a collapsible wagon for fields. (Big Red Barn doesn't allow wagons.)
- A phone charger or battery pack.
- Snacks, since lines can be long at lunch.
- Room in the car: blankets and bungee cords for bigger pieces.
Use the Field Map so nothing gets lost
Cell service is spotty, so open the free Field Map as soon as you arrive. It runs in your browser with no app and no account. Save your parking spot the moment you park, find the nearest restroom and food, check tram stops, and use Save This Booth for anything you might come back for. Show-day features switch on when the first venues open on October 12.
To read up on dealers before you go, browse the Round Top vendor directory by category and venue. For more detail, see our first-timer's guide and packing list.
