First Timer's Guide to Round Top Antique Week 2026

So you've heard about Round Top — maybe from a friend, Instagram, or a design magazine. You know it involves antiques, Texas, and a lot of walking. But what actually is it, and how do you do it right?

This guide covers everything a first-timer needs to know.

What Is Round Top?

Round Top is a tiny town (population 93) in Fayette County, Texas, about 90 minutes from Houston and 75 minutes from Austin. Twice a year — spring and fall — it transforms into the world's largest antique fair.

But here's the thing most people don't realize: it's not one show. It's 48 independently owned venues stretched across 11 miles from Tree Park to La Bahia. Each venue opens on its own schedule, sets its own prices, and curates its own dealers. During show weeks, approximately 1,500+ vendors sell to around 100,000 visitors.

When to Go

Spring Show 2026: March 14-28 Fall Show 2026: October 17-31

Not all venues are open for the entire run. Some open early, some late. If you can only come for a few days, aim for the middle of the show when the maximum number of venues are open.

Pro tip: Weekdays are dramatically less crowded than weekends. Tuesday through Thursday is the sweet spot.

How to Shop Smart

  2. Take photos of items you like, including the booth number
  3. Ask about the piece — vendors love sharing the history and provenance
  4. Negotiate respectfully — asking "Is this your best price?" is perfectly acceptable, especially for cash purchases
  5. Know the shipping options — several shipping vendors can get your finds home

Where to Eat

The food truck scene is part of the Round Top experience. You'll find BBQ, tacos, crepes, gourmet coffee, and more along the corridor. Check our Dining Guide for all options.
