Round Top is located in Fayette County, Texas — a small town of 93 people tucked into the rolling hills between Houston and Austin. There's no commercial airport, no train, and no bus service. You're driving.
Here's how to get there from every major Texas city.
From Houston (~90 minutes)
Recommended route: Take US-290 West through Brenham, then turn south on TX-237.
This is the most common approach and the one most show-goers use. The 290 route through Brenham gives you access to the northern end of the corridor first (Blue Hills, Big Red Barn area).
Alternative: Take I-10 West to Columbus, then head north on TX-71 to La Grange, then west on TX-237. This route approaches from the south (Warrenton end) and can be less congested during peak show weekends.
Traffic warning: On the first and second weekends of the show, expect significant traffic on TX-237 between 9 AM and 4 PM. Arrive before 8:30 AM or after 4 PM to avoid the worst.
From Austin (~75 minutes)
Recommended route: Take TX-71 East to La Grange, then north on TX-237.
Straightforward drive with few alternatives. You'll enter the corridor from the south (Warrenton end), which works perfectly for starting at Marburger Farm, The Compound, or the Excess fields.
Tip: Some designers fly into Austin and drive from there. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) is about 50 minutes from Round Top, though traffic during the fair can stretch that. Experienced shoppers note that many visitors "fly into Austin, rent a car, and drive about an hour to Round Top" — it's the easiest air travel option.
From Dallas/Fort Worth (~4 hours)
Recommended route: I-35 South to Temple, then TX-36 South through Cameron to La Grange, then TX-237 North.
This is a day trip from Dallas only if you're committed. Most DFW visitors plan a 2-3 night stay. Consider flying into Austin (1-hour flight) and driving from there to save time.
From San Antonio (~2.5 hours)
Recommended route: I-10 East to Columbus, then TX-71 North to La Grange, then TX-237 North.
An easy drive with light traffic. As one travel show put it, "Round Top sits in the middle of nowhere and everywhere at the same time, because it's an easy day trip from San Antonio, Houston, and Austin."

What to Know About the Drive
The 11-Mile Corridor
Once you arrive, the show corridor stretches about 11 miles along TX-237, running from the Warrenton area in the south up through Round Top proper in the north. As one experienced guide described it: "Drive down Highway 237 for 11 miles and you'll find tents, fields, barns, antiques, decor, clothing, and all of the treasures that you could ever want to find."
Understanding which end of the corridor you'll enter from helps you plan your day. Coming from Austin or San Antonio, you'll hit Warrenton first — home to the large field shows, Marburger Farm, The Compound, and the Excess venues. Coming from Houston, you'll arrive at the Round Top end — closer to Blue Hills, Big Red Barn, Henkel Square, and the town's restaurants.
Bring the Right Vehicle
Experienced shoppers offer one consistent piece of advice about transportation: bring a vehicle that can haul your finds. One designer put it bluntly: "Essential tip number one is to bring a U-Haul or a trailer or a box truck." If you're flying in, you can still ship purchases home — shipping vendors are available on-site at many venues. But if you're driving, bring extra cargo space. A trunk full of treasures is the best souvenir from Round Top.
Flying In? Here's What to Know
If you're flying into Austin or Houston, you have several options for getting your purchases home:
- Bring an extra empty suitcase — experienced shoppers pack smaller finds between their clothes for the flight home
- Use on-site shippers — professional shipping companies set up at the larger venues during show weeks and can ship furniture and large items anywhere in the country
- Rent a larger vehicle — if you're serious about buying, consider renting an SUV or van at the airport instead of a sedan
As one couple explained after their trip: "If you're planning to go to Round Top and you're flying in, bring a big empty suitcase and pack it between your clothes. Everything arrived safely."
Cell Service and Navigation
Cell service along the corridor is spotty at best in some areas. Download your maps before you arrive, and consider downloading the Round Top Finder app — it works offline for maps and vendor info, which is invaluable when you're navigating between venues with weak signal.
Once You're There
Use the Round Top Finder Map to navigate between venues, find parking, and locate restrooms. The trip planner can help you build a day-by-day itinerary based on which venues are open and what you want to see.
